Have you guys heard about the 'Miniatur Wunderland'? My Dad emailed me about it last week. Housed in Hamburg, Germany, it is the world's largest model railway! This thing is absolutely huge! It has 12,000 meters of track, 890 trains, 200,000 miniature people, and 185 staff people keeping it all in working order! And, incredibly, it cost 10,000,000 euro to make!
The massive structure depicts parts of many different countries including all of Scandanavia and the United States. Not surprisingly, it has some beautiful passages of mountains and snow—perfect for getting in the holiday spirit!
Some of those scenes are even a little cheeky! How great would it be to decorate your house with a spotted horse or board a train with a penguin family?
For the full effect—namely an overview and tour of the whole crazy big structure—you can watch the video above. Or you can visit the Miniatur Wunderland website here and find out more fun facts, watch a 'train's eye view' video, and much much more.
Hey, if it's all warm and windy and rainy here in New York, at least we can live vicariously through these mini mountainscapes!
